Education

Dr. Badr Hashemi was educated at the University of Cambridge, and studied the philosophy of Qur'anic exegesis at al-Azhar — bringing together a Western academic training and a classical grounding in the Islamic sciences.

His mission

Dr. Badr Hashemi has devoted his life to a single purpose: to open the Qur'an to readers everywhere, in language they can understand, without diluting its depth. His works range from complete, annotated translations of the Qur'an to concise introductions for the first-time reader — each written so that a newcomer and a lifelong student can both find their place in it.

His writing

Across eight books, Dr. Hashemi has translated and annotated the Qur'an, set it beside the Ahadith and the earlier scriptures, studied the Divine Names of Allah, traced the life and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and written accessible introductions to the faith and to the Book itself. His scholarship is careful and sourced; his tone is warm and unpolemical.

His study of the ninety-nine Divine Names, The Divine Names of Allah, also lives on as a mobile application — The Divine 99 — available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, bringing the Asma ul Husna to readers on their phones.

His readers

All of Dr. Hashemi's books are offered here completely free — to read online in an interactive reader, or to download as PDF. There is no charge, no account and no barrier: only the invitation to read, reflect, and share what these books mean to you.
