About this book

Essence of Islam answers the question plainly: what does Islam actually teach? It sets out the articles of faith, the five pillars, and the acts of worship — and, just as importantly, the spirit and reasoning behind each of them.

The book is written for two readers at once: the non-Muslim who wants an honest, unpolemical account of the religion, and the Muslim who wants the fundamentals restated clearly. Nothing assumes prior knowledge, and nothing talks down to the reader.

At around eighty pages it can be read in a single sitting, which makes it the natural starting point among Dr. Hashemi's works.
